Amazing Composite Street Photographs of New York City

Photographer Peter Funch stakes out busy New York City street corners, capturing hundreds of moments over the course of several weeks from the same spot. Then, he superimposes these real scenes into one surreal super scene. Suddenly, every single person in Times Square is a picture-snapping tourist. Everyone on a Lower East Side street has a little dog. Everyone is yawning. Everyone has balloons. In his series Babel Tales he zooms in on human similarities and collective behaviour creating a poetic and detailed picture of each persons presence both as an individual and as part of a community.

Dear Photograph

Dear Photograph is an amazing project with simple instructions: “Take a picture of a picture from the past in the present”.

The Impossible Project – Instant Film

Polaroid announced that it would stop producing instant film in 2008, and if it wasn’t for 10 former Polaroid employees and The Impossible Project the story would have ended there. Amazingly the small team was able to save instant film from extinction by creating a new instant film! Finally my old camera can come out of hiding.

Bringing toys to life

Came across this set of Toy Photography on Phototuts+ and thought how beautiful (mostly) they were. Could be a lovely animation style to make a character model and shoot it in real world settings!

Back to the Future – Irina Werning, photographer

“I love old photos. I admit being a nosey photographer. As soon as I step into someone else’s house, I start sniffing for them. Most of us are fascinated by their retro look but to me, it’s imagining how people would feel and look like if they were to reenact them today… A few months ago, I decided to actually do this. So, with my camera, I started inviting people to go back to their future.” – Irina Werning
